Textbooks don’t come cheap and the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cites is doing something about it.
ASWSUTC is holding the third annual Fund the Future 5K Run on April 27 at WSU Tri-Cities. All proceeds go toward book stipends to help students this coming fall semester.
The race starts at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. in front of the West Building, 2710 Crimson Way, off George Washington Way and Sprout Road in north Richland. The route starts behind the West Building, on the paved Sacagawea Heritage side trail along the Columbia River.
Walkers are welcome, as are families. Kids can show their speed in a 50-yard dash, and then enjoy a bounce house and face painting.
Registration includes a T-shirt and a spaghetti feed for the first 200 registrants. The fees are:
• $25 for the public
• $20 for WSU Tri-Cities alumni
• $15 for students (includes all levels and schools)
• $5 for kids ages 12 and under
To register, go to signmeup.com/89239 and create an account. Register before Tuesday, April 16, to guarantee a T-shirt. Participants can register the morning of the run, but shirt sizes will be limited.
For serious runners, official timing chips are being provided by Budu Racing.
Fund the Future 5K Run sponsors include Country Gentleman Restaurant & Catering, Garlick Enterprises, 3 Rivers Roadrunners and Yoke’s Fresh Market stores.
