The Max E. Benitz Memorial Library is the library serving the Washington State University (WSU) Tri-Cities campus. The Library is a unit of the Consolidated Libraries.

The Benitz Library includes an on-site collection of books, periodical issues, and microfiche, shelved in combination with the collections of the Hanford Technical Library.

Wireless computer access to the campus network, and library electronic resources, is available in the library and around campus to currently enrolled WSU TC students. Students must register their computers with campus Computer Services, CIC Rm. 225.

Laptop computers are also available to enrolled WSU TC students on two-hour loans. The laptops have built-in wireless modems and come with the full suite of Microsoft Office applications and other software. Laptops may be checked out from the Library's Circulation Desk.

The Benitz Library has its own Friends group, the Friends of the Max E. Benitz Memorial Library. Want to support the Library in a special way?  Become a Friend and an Adopt-A-Book supporter.

Services
In addition to supplying on-site materials through its local collections, the Benitz Library facilitates access to the extensive library collections and electronic resources at the other WSU campuses. The online portal to all the campus collections and an extensive range of electronic information services is the WSU Libraries Gateway with links to Griffin and to Summit. Students and faculty may borrow materials from the other WSU and Summit libraries.

These and other electronic information services are described in a series of Quick Reference Guides available on the Web.

Materials requested through Griffin and Summit will be delivered to the Circulation Desk for pick up within a few days.  Be sure to search Griffin and Article Indexes/E-Journals first to determine if the materials are available from the WSU libraries before they are requested from the other locations.

Please note there are overdue fines for items checked out at WSU libraries.

The WSU Libraries have access to thousands of journals, newsletters, popular magazines, and newspapers, via the Web, in full text formats and many journals in print and on microform.  Go to the WSU Libraries Gateway page and to the Leona catalog to search for print and electronic journals held by the Benitz Library and the Hanford Technical Library. Materials ordered from other WSU libraries are free for WSU Tri-Cities faculty, staff, and students.  There may be charges for materials ordered from libraries outside the State system.

Students, faculty, and staff should order books directly using the Request Item feature in Griffin or Summit.

Journal articles not locally available can be requested by filling out a form in the library or going to the following pages and filling out a document request order form:  Web Request Order Form. Check WSU Tri-Cities Periodical List and Griffin Electronic Gateway Electronic Journal List: http://www.wsulibs.wsu.edu before ordering articles.

For further information on Benitz Library services see: Procedures for Determining Availability of Library Resources.

Columbia Basin College (CBC) students may borrow Benitz Library materials on a walk-in basis and WSU students may visit the CBC Library and borrow materials. Click here for the CBC Online Catalog.

Students needing to have an exam proctored should contact the Reference Desk to schedule a day and time to take the exam. Click here for further details.

Radiological and Affiliated Sciences Collection
A special collection of books, manuscripts, professional papers, and other materials pertinent to the development of the radiological sciences is managed by the WSU Library.  It is primarily housed at the Consolidated Libraries on the WSU Tri-Cities campus and is available to students, faculty, and the public. Exceptionally rare items and fragile materials are maintained in the archives in Pullman. The Herbert Parker Foundation, in conjunction with the Washington State University Foundation, continues to accept contributions of funds and books to building this unique information resource.

The Herbert M. Parker Foundation is supported through member contributions from individuals, businesses, and corporations. Membership dues are fully tax deductible. Click here for a brochure (pdf format) that describes the Foundation and the benefits of membership.

If you have books, personal papers, manuscripts, journals, or other items of historical value that you may be interested in donating to build this collection, please contact:
