The Google-SVA Scholarship
This program is focused on rewarding high caliber student veterans pursuing a degree in the Computer Science field. The goals of the Google-SVA Scholarship are to:
- To identify high-performing student veterans in the Computer Science field, and to reward achievement and encourage further study through the scholarship program.
To affect the retention of student veterans in the Computer Science field by providing recognition and funds needed for university expenses, such as tuition, books and lab fees. - To help foster communities of students through Google sponsored events like the Annual Scholars' Retreats. The Scholars Retreat is an all-expenses paid retreat for the scholarship winners for that academic year. It provides an important networking opportunity for the top students from all over the US to meet with each other, and with Google engineers in a personable and fun environment.

The Internship Support Program (ISP)
The Internship Support Program provides student veterans with a monthly stipend to offset the financial burden of an unpaid internship. We recognize that student veterans are nontraditional students with financial obligations. Some student veterans use their GI Bill benefits as a primary source of income. This may cause student veterans to choose between taking max course loads to support their financial obligations and finding paid employment.
The Internship Support Program was originally underwritten by the Call of Duty Endowment, an organization focused on combating veterans unemployment, in the Fall semester of 2011. Since the majority of unpaid internships open in the Summer semester term, SVA will now host the program during the Summer semester.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Scholarship
Much like the original GI Bill recipients of the 1940s and 50s, today’s veterans will bring invaluable skills and spirit to businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. These student veterans have the potential to usher in a new generation of American progress and to address some of our nation's most pressing needs. Other countries are quickly eclipsing our excellence in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). To compete in tomorrow's global economy we need to continue to develop new scientists, engineers, and mathematicians at home. Student veterans are well equipped to answer that challenge.
The STEM Scholarship will be awarded to one (1) recipient for $10,000 and will incentivize students pursuing STEM degrees to achieve academic excellence. It will also encourage potential STEM students to enter the field and endure the rigorous course work. Eligible students must maintain a minimum of a 3.3 GPA in an accredited science, technology, engineering, or mathematics program. The SVA STEM Scholarship will be awarded to one (1) student veteran for the 2012-13 academic year.

SVA Yellow Ribbon Scholarship
The GI Bill fails to adequately support student veterans that are attending private institutions or out-of-state public universities. Under current law, the Post 9/11 GI Bill supports student veterans at the highest in-state tuition rate. Universities do have an option to help supplement this cost through the Department of Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon Program. The Department of Veterans Affairs matches every dollar that the university pledges to the Yellow Ribbon fund. However, some universities have failed to adequately fund the Yellow Ribbon Program, or even sign on to support student veterans.
To help student veterans at schools with limited Yellow Ribbon Programs, or those colleges without one entirely, SVA has created the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship, a $10,000 need-based award. It will support any student veteran at a private or out-of-state university that has demonstrated academic excellence, but is facing an undue financial burden. The SVA Yellow Ribbon Scholarship will be awarded to one (1) student veteran for the 2012-13 academic year.

Tillman Military Scholarships are open for submissions
Who is eligible to apply to become a Tillman Military Scholar?
- Veteran and active duty military servicemembers
- Of both pre- and post-9/11 service
- From all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, including service in the National Guard and Reserve
- Spouses of active or veteran servicemembers
- Including surviving spouses
- Servicemember or spouse seeking assistance to pursue an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate degree as a full-time student at a public or private, 4-year U.S.-based accredited institution
The application will close on FRIDAY, MARCH 16
