June 23-27
Summer Science Camp: “Gizmos, Gadgets and Goop,” June 23-27, for kindergartners through fifth-graders, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Half Day: 8:30 - noon) each day at WSU Tri-Cities. Science and imagination join forces as children experience the thrill of building electronic gadgets while learning basic principles of electricity. They explore the science behind batteries, bulbs and buzzers. Enter the Invention Dimension to design and create motorized K’Nex racers, roller coasters, planes and more. Summer Science Camp: “Space and Rocketry,” June 30-July 3, for kindergartners through fifth-graders, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Half Day: 8:00 - noon) each day at WSU Tri-Cities. Launch a rad rocket. Ready a high-flying, solid-fueled rocket for Launch Day and watch it return to Earth. Make a working telescope and build a light-up model of our solar system. Explore the secrets of Mars, the Red Planet. Create a motorized K’Nex Mars Rover and fiber optic constellations in this unforgettable outer-space adventure. Summer Science Camp: “Extreme Sports Science,” July 7-11, for kindergartners through fifth-graders, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Half Day: 8:30 - noon) each day at WSU Tri-Cities. Go for the gold! Build a fitness kit and study basic human anatomy. Listen to your heartbeat with a stethoscope, measure your pulse, build a skeleton and exercise with a pedometer. Explore the buoyancy of swimming, the tricks to balance and the aerodynamics of racing as you take part in wacky competitions. Solve a top secret mystery! Build your very own Science Detective kit, including flashlights, microscopes, periscopes and more. Put these to test as you explore the science mysteries behind magnets, phosphorescence and invisible ink. Use forensics to discover the culprit behind the missing ice cream recipe and, finally, save the day, make ice cream and earn a Science Adventures Detective Badge.
